ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – More than 60 volunteers and city staff will fan across the city Wednesday to find homeless veterans and give them a place to live. It's part of a city initiative to end chronic homelessness within a decade.

"Until we reach a day when not a single veteran sleeps on our streets, our work remains unfinished," Mayor Francis Slay said in a news release.

Volunteers and city officials will go to abandoned buildings, small encampments, highway overpasses and other places where chronically homeless people tend to stay, and help find them the appropriate type of housing.

To meet up with a census team beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, please call Bill Siedhoff: 314.443.8643.
