WRIGHT CITY, Mo. (KSDK) – After their owner was found dead, 13 dogs and three cats living without heated shelter, food or water were rescued Wednesday by the Humane Society of Missouri.
Earlier this week, the Warren County Sheriff's Office conducted a welfare check on the property. Officers found the owner dead, and the animals living outside in unheated enclosures. Authorities obtained a warrant to remove the animals, and the Humane Society's Animal Cruelty Task Force was recruited to rescue and care for the animals.
A Feb. 24 hearing will determine who will have custody of the dogs and cats. If it is rewarded to the Humane Society of Missouri, as many animals as possible will be put up for adoption.
