LAKE SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – A Chesterfield woman is accused of stealing a dog worth nearly $1,700.

Shelly R. Hess is charged with stealing of an animal.

Police say on Nov. 8, 2013 Hess stole a female Havanese dog from Petland, drove to Naperville and Bolingbrook, Ill. and stole two more dogs from two other Petland stores.

All three dogs were dropped off at the Lake Saint Louis Petland store two days later by and unknown person.

Police say on Nov. 22, 2013 Hess drove to the Naperville, Ill. Petland and purchased two dogs, one of which she had previously stolen. She allegedly called the manager of that store several times and confessed to stealing the dogs and that she purchased them to make things right.
