ST. LOUIS – If the Gateway City meets the necessary criteria, officials plan to bid for the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
The Democratic National Committee will send a letter outlining specific parameters for the host city, which includes the minimum number of hotel rooms and arena seats. St. Louis was seen as a contender for the 2012 convention.
The St. Louis Business Journal reports that while the city almost certainly meets the infrastructure parameters for the convention, scheduling could be a problem. The St. Louis Convention and Visitors Convention says there are 16 bookings for September 2016, as well as eight tentative bookings.
