KSDK – NBC News Special Correspondent Tom Brokaw announced Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer affecting blood cells in bone marrow.

Brokaw has worked at NBC News since 1966.

Doctors are optimistic about his prognosis. During his treatment, he will continue to work on NBC News projects. He is also contribute to NBC Sports coverage of the Winter Olympics.
