ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – The three occupants of a north city home have to find a new place to live after a fire broke out just before 10 a.m. Sunday.

The blaze started in the basement of the one-story house at 5990 Theodore Avenue. Firefighters say they were able to get it under control quickly, and that the smoke detector went off, giving the family the chance to escape.

No injuries have been reported, and its cause remains under investigation. The Red Cross is providing assistance to the family.
