ALTON, Ill. (KSDK) – A 56-year-old woman is charged with stealing hundreds of dollars of baby formula on three different occasions from the Wal-Mart in Godfrey.

Cheryl Ballinger, 56, was arrested at approximately 11:05 a.m. Monday after a Wal-Mart loss prevention officer told authorities that he had seen her attempt to steal multiple cans of formula. She also stole formula on Feb. 13 and 19, but avoided apprehension, according to police.

When deputies took Ballinger into custody, they found approximately $259 of stolen baby formula in her possession. Police say in the two previous thefts, she stole $382 in baby formula.

She is currently being held at the Madison County Jail on a $60,000 bond, and has been charged with felony burglary.
