ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) – If you live in St. Charles and St. Louis Counties and notice a strange taste or odor in your water, you're not alone.

The change is related to recent snow melt increasing the amount of clay and silts in the Missouri River – the main source of the area's drinking water.

The water is nevertheless safe to drink and use, according to a news release from Missouri American Water.

Water treatment officials have adjusted some of their processes, and they believe the taste and odor changes will pass within five to seven days.
