ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Whole Foods across the country are celebrating the Italian King of Cheese…in a big way.

Whole Foods Markets across the country simultaneously cracked open wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano on Saturday.

Workers at the Whole Foods in Brentwood used five different knives to crack open the 85 pound wheels.

Getting the cheese is no easy task either.

Workers say it took two years for the cheese to age. After that, it was brought to the U.S. from a small province in northern Italy.
