UPDATE (8:30 p.m.): A third person affiliated with Baconfest claims the original Facebook page was also associated with the festival, and was not a "rogue page." We're working on getting more information about the future of Baconfest.

ORIGINAL STORY:

ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Baconfest will go on despite an internet rumor to the contrary, the festival's founders wrote in an email to NewsChannel 5.

"Recently there has been some misinformation circulating the internet initiated by a Facebook group that neither I nor my business partner operate. We are exploring our legal options to rectify the situation," organizer Matthew Willer wrote in an email to KSDK.

Baconfest St. Louis will be held downtown at Soldiers Memorial on Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

KSDK initially reported that Baconfest was canceled based on the erroneous Facebook post, which used the Baconfest name.

The official Baconfest Facebook page can be found at http://www.facebook.com/baconfestsaintlouis.
