TROY, Ill. (KSDK) – A 9-year-old girl says she was approached by an unidentified suspect in a black panel van and told to get inside, according to a Facebook post from the Troy, Ill. Police Facebook page. The child was able to get home safely.

It happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The girl was walking from the Dollar General Store north on Riggin Road when the suspect allegedly asked her if she "needed a ride."

She told police that she said no, and was then told to "just get in the van." She was able to get away, and the vehicle fled, heading north on Riggin Road, according to police.

The vehicle is described as a black panel van with no windows on the rear or passenger side door. The suspect is described as an older black male wearing a black t-shirt and skull cap.

Any witnesses are asked to call Troy Police at 618-667-6731.
