ALTON, Ill. (KSDK) – A fifth in a string of attempted abductions was reported on Tuesday, when police say a man in a black Chevrolet pick-up approached a 14-year-old boy and told him to get in the car.

It happened at around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Alby and Brentwood. The boy told the man no, and ran to a neighbor's house and called his parents, who then called police.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s with a thin build and longer dark brown hair that doesn't go past his ears.

Police say he was driving an older "box"-style black Chevy pick-up with an extended cab and a long bed. The truck had several dents on the passenger side door.

Officers scoured the area, but were unable to find the truck.

Similar incidents have been reported in O'Fallon, Troy, Ill.,St. Ann and West Alton.

Police tell us they have no indication that they're related.
