FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) –A 24-year-old O'Fallon, lll. man turned himself in on stalking charges after his identity was revealed to police during a traffic stop.

On March 9, Fairview Heights Police pulled over Matthew Gendron for a minor traffic violation. Shortly thereafter, the Shiloh Police Department told the FHPD they were investigating Gendron for stalking charges.

That prompted Fairview Heights officers to get in touch with the victim, who said Gendron had stalked her and made threatening phone calls. He is also accused of placing her under surveillance.

Gendron turned himself in to the Fairview Heights Police Department, where he was charged with stalking and harassment by telephone. He has been released from custody on bond, which has been set at $50,000.
