The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education told the task force to do the legwork and report back. The problem is lawmakers haven't figured out how to stop charging Normandy the tuition rate that made it go broke in the first place.
The district is unaccredited. State law requires the district to pay bus and tuition costs to send children to other school districts. Normandy needs $5 million to make it through the year. Lawmakers haven't decided yet if they'll give the district the money.
