ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – An ambulance can be a scary experience for anyone…especially children.

That ride is about to get a whole lot easier thanks to one man's generosity.

Chris Brock recently celebrated his 40th birthday. Instead of gifts, he asked everyone to give him a stuffed animal. On Monday, he donated those animals to the St. Louis Fire Department.

"We've been using stuffed animals for years," Dennis Jenkerson said. "Our supply has gotten a little bit low, but now, due to Chris, it's back up. This is going to sustain us for a while, so thanks Chris. I want this done every year. It's on you."

Brock lives with autism. Firefighters say they want to share Chris' story to shed light on the disorder.

April is autism awareness month.
