ST. LOUIS (KSDK) –The St. Louis Police Department and St. Louis College of Pharmacy teamed up Saturday to make sure prescription drugs stay out of the wrong hands.

One of the drop-off sites was at the Walgreens on Lafayette in Soulard.

"You don't know what's going to happen there," Officer Joseph Calabro said. "Animals may eat that. Small children may get into that. If it's put into an alley or a dumpster, it just keeps those particular drugs off the street."

Officers say they've collected about eight to 10 boxes of prescription drugs already.

After drop-off is finished, all the drugs will be incinerated.
