CLAYTON, Mo. (KSDK) - Photos, essays and a history book are among the items that Clayton residents will find in the city's centennial time capsule when they open it in 2063.

The capsule – which was buried Saturday morning in Hanley Park – has the following message from Mayor Harold Sanger:

We, the leaders and citizens of Clayton in 2013, wish you the very best as you celebrate Clayton's 150th anniversary. May the spirit of Ralph Clayton and Martin Hanley inspire generations of Claytonians to continue the effort that made our city the unique and wonderful community it is. We hope you will continue this tradition and pass along the contents of this capsule with information about the events that are unfolding in 2063 to those who will celebrate Clayton's 200th birthday in 2113.

The capsule contained winning essays from the mayor's contest as well as photos from local students showing their impressions of Clayton in 2013.
