ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – St. Louis Rams tight end Jared Cook and his mother, Yulinda Cook, shared the story of her battle with breast cancer Sunday during the 5th Annual Power of a Promise Luncheon.

Yulinda Cook was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, but was completely cancer free by 2010. Ever since he watched his mother battle the disease, Jared Cook has dedicated his time to helping raise money for cancer research.

He served as the honorary team captain for the Rams at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure last summer. He and his mother shared their story with 40,000 survivors, their friends, family and supporters during the opening ceremonies.

More than 500 guests were in attendance at Sunday's luncheon.
