Schnucks representatives say they put a lot of effort into the store, but it has continuously operated in the red.

Here's the full statement:

Schnucks leaders have a long-standing commitment to the residents of the Kossuth neighborhood and because of that our CEO Todd Schnuck has indicated that he would be open to helping another identified grocer to come into the space. As for Schnucks, we have applied our best efforts to turning the store around and, having exhausted all options, the Schnucks Kossuth store will close at 6 p.m. on May 10.
