ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Dozens of students, parents and staff at Sherwood Elementary came together Saturday to build a new playground.

The school's principal says the project will mean the world for her students.

"We are so proud," Principal Colleen Cole said. "We are so excited for our kids. We can't wait for them to come in and see it Monday morning. We're really excited."

The school saved $8,000 to $10,000 by doing a community build. That also let them purchase more equipment for the students, Cole wrote in an email.

A certified installer was on-hand to supervise the project.
