ORRICK, Mo. (AP) - Three golfers from Orrick High School are headed to Springfield for the Missouri Class I state tournament, about two weeks after a tornado tore through their hometown.

Senior Jacob Jennings, senior Mason Karnes and junior Tanner Werle, who grew up together, are calling the tournament the final day of high school they were never able to enjoy. That's because school was called off after the May 10 tornado hit the town of about 800 located northeast of Kansas City.

No injuries were reported in the tornado, but several homes and buildings, including their school, were damaged.

The Kansas City Star reports the three friends intend to play in the state tournament Monday with Orrick in mind.
