ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) – An American flag now waves at each of the 190,000 graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

A team of 4,000 Boy Scouts were responsible for hanging the flags. It's the tradition's 65th year, and one of the longest running Memorial Day events within the Boy Scouts of America.

Families who came out today say it's not only about serving the community. It's also about showing respect to those who gave their lives to protect us all.

"This Memorial Day it's really important for these younger scouts to learn the sacrifices that have been made by the people here," John Cichellero said. "It's really a nice family event for everyone."
