ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – There are conflicting accounts in a north city stabbing that injured a 21-year-old man.

Police say it happened at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 4500 block of Adelaide. The victim told police that the suspect – identified as a man in his 50s – rode toward him on a black bicycle and tried to grab him. The victim says the suspect stabbed him in the arm multiple times when he resisted.

Witnesses, however, tell police that the victim was the aggressor, and the suspect may have been defending himself.

The victim ran away after the incident, and called police. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Police couldn't find the suspect after an initial search of the area.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
