ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Just in time for rush hour on Monday, the Missouri Department of Transportation announced that it will reopen Interstate 44 in both directions in downtown St. Louis following a closure aimed at removing the Market and Chestnut Street Bridges.

The eastbound lanes reopened by around 8 p.m. on Sunday, and the westbound lanes were expected to reopen by 10 p.m.

The work is part of the Park Over the Highway project, a portion of the CityArchRiver 2015 aimed at bettering the Arch grounds.
