FESTUS, Mo. (KSDK) – One person is injured and two people are in custody in wake of a shooting that happened in the bathroom of the Festus Wal-Mart at about mid-day on Tuesday.
The store -- located at 650 S. Truman Boulevard -- remains closed while police conduct an investigation. It will reopen once authorities give the all-clear.
Police say the victim was shot once, but the bullet hit both his hand and jaw.
About 20 minutes after the initial call about the shooting, one of the suspects was arrested in the parking lot, according to Justin Wheatley of Missouri Highway Patrol,while the other person was apprehended on Second Street.
The suspects were identified as a 33-year-old man from DeSoto and a 30-year-old man from Festus. They wee taken to the Festus Police Department.
The victim was airlifted from Mercy to another hospital.
"We do appreciate the quick response by local police responding to the store," a Walmart spokesperson told NewsChannel 5.
Police believe this was an isolated incident, and that the victim and suspects knew each other prior to the shooting.
