BEL-RIDGE, Mo. (KSDK) – A 28-year-old St. Louis man faces weapons and assault charges after a pointing a gun at an undercover officer – leading the officer to fire a shot at him, according to police.

It happened on Monday afternoon in the 3400 block of Elmhurst – about five miles from Lambert St. Louis International Airport.

Police detectives from the Bureau of Drug Enforcement were participating in an undercover drug buy at the above residence. When the officer tried to arrest Joshua Martin, they say he pointed a handgun in the officer's direction.

Martin was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released, and is currently being held on a $150,000 cash-only bond.

Chris Martin, 23, was also present at the residence at the time of the arrest. He has been charged with one count of distributing narcotics and one count of intent to distribute narcotics. He is currently being held on an $80,000 bond.

No police officers were injured during the incident.
