ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – A total of 125 local positions at Mercy have been eliminated as part of a seven-state workforce reduction.
A total of 220 positions have been eliminated throughout Mercy – totaling less than one percent of the health care company's 40,000-member workforce.
Mercy says the reduction is limited to non-patient care support areas.
"While not uncommon in today's health care environment, these kinds of changes are nonetheless difficult," said Lynn Britton, Mercy president and CEO, in a news release. "As we realign to operate more efficiently, growth and expansion will continue across Mercy as community needs warrant."
