COLUMBIA, MO. - Demolition started at the apartment complex where a Columbia, Missouri firefighter died.

A Fenton wrecking company began tearing down 11 of the 14 buildings at the University Village apartments.

In February, Lieutenant Bruce Britt was killed while trying to rescue residents trapped by a walkway collapse.

An investigation revealed deterioration of the concrete and steel supporting the walkway caused it to buckle.
