JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A jury has recommended that a Jefferson City man be executed for killing a woman with whom he had a relationship while she was separated from her husband, who was also shot to death.
TheJefferson City News Tribune reports the jury recommended the punishment Friday for 58-year-old David Hosier. The same panel convicted Hosier on Wednesday of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Angela Gilpin.
The victim and her husband, Ronald Gilpin, were shot multiple times at a Jefferson City apartment in September 2009. Prosecutors said the couple had been trying to reconcile.
A judge will sentence Hosier sometime later and is not bound by the jury's recommendation.
Hosier was charged in both killings, but the status of the case against him in Ronald Gilpin's death is unclear.
