FLORISSANT, Mo. (KSDK) – A man has been charged with second degree murder after allegedly assaulting a suspected shooter during a fight at Pirates Cove bar.
Police were called to the bar at around 11:24 p.m. Fridayafter reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered that the suspected shooter, Edward Mueller, 63, had been disarmed by a patron and then assaulted by one of the shooting victims' brothers, Douglas Layman, 37.
Mueller later died at a local hospital from the injuries he sustained during the assault.
Layman was taken into custody, and was charged this weekend with second degree murder. He is currently under a $250,000 cash-only bond.
