ELLISVILLE, Mo. – Police officers and a citizen tackled two suspects accused of attempting to rob a jewelry store in Ellisville, Mo. Tuesday morning.

Nancy Walker with the Ellisville Police Department says a man walked into Clarkson Jewelers at the corner of Clayton and Clarkson roads at 10:37 a.m. and asked to see a Rolex watch. When the salesperson took it out, the man grabbed it and ran from the store.

The salesperson chased the suspect and tackled him in the parking lot. The suspect told the salesperson he was going to kill him, so the salesperson backed off.

The store owner then came outside and fired shots, but did not hit anyone.

A second suspect was sitting in a red Hyundai waiting for the first suspect. The two drove off, heading west on Clayton.

St. Louis County police officers quickly spotted the vehicle, started a pursuit. The suspects crashed the vehicle near Chesterfield mall, jumped out of the car, and started to run.

Officers quickly followed and apprehended both men.

Nobody was injured in the shooting, but the second suspect was taken to an area hospital to be treated for unknown injuries.
