DE SOTO, Mo. - A 25-year-old rural De Soto man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an investigation into alleged child abuse.

According to Detective Rick Draper, a spokesman for the De Soto Police Department, the incident occurred November 2.

The suspect, identified as Jeremy Rush Jr., was taken into custody without incident and charged with abuse or neglect of a child causing serious injury.

Rush is a relative of the victim's mother and was babysitting the child at the time of the incident, Draper said.

If convicted, Jeremy Rush Jr. faces five to 15 years in prison. He remains in custody at Jefferson County Jail on $25,000 bond.
