FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – A Washington Park man is in custody for burglaries in the Fairview Heights, Swansea, and Collinsville areas.

Officers with the Fairview Heights Police Department were called to an apartment in the Winchester apartment complex early Dec. 19 for a report of a burglary. The victim told police he woke up and noticed his wallet, cell phone, and laptop, which had been lying on his nightstand, were gone. The sliding glass door leading to his bedroom to outside was slightly open. The rest of his apartment had been raided.

Two of the items stolen were Apple products, and were tracked through GPS to the Roosevelt Homes apartments in Washington Park. Officers responded to the home and recovered the victim's items. An additional 116 items confirmed to have been stolen in other Fairview Heights, Swansea, and Collinsville burglaries were also recovered.

The suspect, originally from Cahokia, was taken into custody and is currently held at the Fairview Heights Police Department. His name will be released if charges are filed.
