GLEN CARBON, Ill. - The search of a Glen Carbon home where a woman was found dead Saturday is now over and investigators say they've found no evidence of a crime.

Glen Carbon Police Chief John Lakin says his department received a tip that past criminal activity may have happened at the home. But the tip didn't include information about a specific crime.

Lakin says heavy equipment was brought in and cadaver dogs searched the property just to be thorough. A search warrant was issued for the investigation, but so far it has not been made public.

The chief says the investigation is on-going but is not related to the death of the 83-year-old Mary L. Kampwerth who lived in the home.

The complete news conference held by Chief John Lakin of the Village of Glen Carbon Police Department about a search of the Kampwerth property.
