ST. CHARLES, Mo. – A St. Charles, Mo. man pleaded guilty to three charges related to child pornography and will spend six years in prison.
James Michael Stewart, 47, was charged with possession of child pornography, second-degree statutory rape, two counts of first-degree invasion of privacy, and tampering with a victim or witness.
He pleaded guilty to possession, statutory rape, and one of the counts of invasion of privacy. The other charges of invasion of privacy charge and tampering with a victim or witness were dropped because the witnesses would not cooperate.
According to court documents, Stewart had intercourse with a 16-year-old girl on or around Oct. 16, 2001. He is also accused of filming that girl and another woman while they were nude, without their knowledge or consent, between the years of 2010 and 2013. Police say he used a webcam set to record motion and saved the videos to his computer's hard drive.
Court documents state Stewart lived at the same home as the young victim, and five children under the age of 18.
He also told police he had sex with a female relative who was 14-years-old or younger in 1997 in Franklin County. That incident is under investigation.
Stewart was sentenced to six years in prison for each of the first two charges and four years in prison for the invasion of privacy charge. The sentences will run concurrently.
