KIRKWOOD, Mo. – A reward worth more than $10,000 is being offered for any information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a fatal hit-and-run accident in Kirkwood over the weekend.
Fifty-year-old Joe Auffenberg was struck and killed by a vehicle in the 400 block of North Kirkwood Road, south of Bodley, around 11 p.m. Sunday.
Police say the vehicle should have front-end damage, windshield damage, and possible damage to the hood. A man who was described as a potential witness has been interviewed and cleared, police said, and continue to search for witnesses to the accident.
Wednesday evening police released two stills of the suspect's vehicle. It's described as a two-tone minivan, dark over light. It might be a Ford Windstar or similar vehicle.
CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest of the person responsible for the crime. An additional private reward of $10,000 is offered by the victim's family for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
