ST. LOUIS – The CEO of a local visiting nurse care provider has been indicted on fraud charges.
Susan Winebarger, 49, of Highland, Ill., was the CEO and then CEO of VNA-TIP in Bridgeton, Mo. She's accused of embezzling $600,000 from company accounts.
Court documents state she ran day-to-day business and financial operations, and had full access to bank backecs and payroll accounts.
Winebarger allegedly embezzled $600,000 from VNA-TIP accounts between January 2008 and December 2013. To conceal the crime, she received all bank account statements, and is accused of altering them before submitting them to VNA-TIP auditors.
She was indicted by a federal grand jury on two counts of wire fraud. If convicted, she will be required to forfeit money and property acquired with stolen money.
Winebarger faces up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $250,000.
