ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - A 42-year-old St. Louis County woman pleaded guilty Wednesday for embezzling from two area schools for three years, according to the U.S. Attorney's office for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Stacey Brotherton embezzled approximately $30,000 from Villa Duchesne, Oak Hill School and another St. Louis area school between 2010 and 2013.

She worked in human resources and manipulated payroll records to send extra paychecks and paychecks owed to former employees to her bank accounts. She set up a similar system when she left that job for another job before being caught.

Brotherton faces up to 20 years in prison and up to $250,000 on each count. Restitution is mandatory.

She will be sentenced May 22.
