ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) – A former Valley Park Mayor will head to trial this summer after backing out of a plea deal.

Nathan Grellner was scheduled for the plea agreement Friday morning in St. Louis County Court on charges of identity theft and fraud.

Grellner has been accused of using city credit cards for personal purchases in 2012. The following year, he was charged for obtaining a credit card under his estranged wife's name, social security number and other personal information.

He resigned from office in July 2012.

He pleaded guilty to DWI, resisting arrest, assault of a Byrnes Mill police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia this past November.

Judge Michael Burton continued the case for trial until August.
