LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. – A local murder case is garnering national attention this week.

Dateline NBC will air a one-hour episode called "The House on Sumac Drive" covering the stabbing death of 42-year-old Elizabeth "Betsy" Faria this Friday.

Betsy was found stabbed to death inside her home on Sumac Drive in Lincoln County in December 2011. Her husband, Russell Faria, was found guilty of her murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Dateline's Keith Morrison will speak to Russell Faria in Friday's episode.

Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney Leah Askey says the report is making a mockery of the justice system. She wants to talk on camera, but says the law won't allow it until all appeals are complete. You can read her complete statement to NewsChannel 5 as well as a statement from Faria's attorney, Joel Schwartz, below the trailer for the episode.

Dateline NBC will air "The House on Sumac Drive" at 7 p.m. CDT.
