TROY, Mo. – Police have identified a man suspected to have stolen a safe from Troy Buchanan High School earlier this week.
Police are looking for 30-year-old Steven Ueltzen of Moscow Mills, Mo. He was last seen at the Troy Super 8 Motel, where he rented a room under the name "William Hopper." He also is known to use the alias "Nike Ueltzen."
The safe was stolen from the school Monday night. Surveillance video captured images of the suspect, believed to be Ueltzen. The safe was recovered at the Logan Conservation Area Tuesday night. The door had been pried open and the contents removed.
Ueltzen is described as a Caucasian male standing 5'9" tall, weighing 225 pounds, with short brown hair, green eyes, and a sleeve tattoo on his left arm. He has a tattoo on his neck that says "Riley" and may have a .22 caliber long gun and a .357 magnum handgun.
There are warrants for Ueltzen's arrest out of Lincoln County and four other agencies for domestic assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and unlawful use of a weapon. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous and has a history of assaulting law enforcement officers. He may be traveling with a 33-year-old woman.
Anyone with information regarding Ueltzen's whereabouts is asked to call 911.
