ST. LOUIS – St. Louis police say two children who were inside a vehicle stolen from north St. Louis have been found safe.

Leah K. Freeman, a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, says a 2008 dark blue Pontiac Grand Prix with Illinois temporary tags was taken around 2:38 p.m. from the 4300 block of Lee. A 9-month-old and 7-month-old were inside the car.

Freeman says this was not a carjacking, and that the suspect is a female who drove off with her child and an acquaintance's child in a vehicle that did not belong to her. All parties involved know each other.

The children were found around 4 p.m. near 14th and Chouteau in downtown St. Louis.
