LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help in locating a former hospital employee accused of embezzling more than $21,000 from two hospital accounts.

According to the sheriff's office, authorities launched an investigation in November 2012 over missing funds at Lincoln County Medical Center. Financial officers at the hospital told investigators that cash and checks could not be accounted for between May and August 2012. Cash and checks totaling $18,606 went missing from the medical center's occupational health account while $2,619.89 went missing the cafeteria account during that period.

Investigators developed a primary suspect: 38-year-old Laura Hall, who worked in accounts receivable from November 2011 to August 2012, and was responsible for depositing the cash and checks into the medical center's account. When initially questioned by investigators, Hall said the lack of internal controls may have led to the disappearance of the money but provided no additional information.

The money disappearances ended when Hall resigned from her position in August 2012.

Laura Hall was charged with felony stealing under $25,000 and remains at large. Her last known place of employment was in Moberly.

Anyone with information on Laura Hall's whereabouts is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at 636-528-6100.
