ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating a deadly shooting in south St. Louis involving a 11-year-old boy.

The shooting happened Wednesday around 9 p.m. in the 3600 block of Tholozan Avenue. Someone walked up to the house, stood on a basement window sill, and fired between eight and ten rounds into the side window of the house. The suspect ran from the scene.

The 11-year-old, identified as Antonio Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene. In earlier reports, police said family initially said the child was 7-years-old..

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said the boy was working on a computer in his home at the time he was shot. He says this was a targeted shooting directed at the house, but police do not believe the boy was the intended target.

"One of the teenage boys in the house has been prior shot, previously shot, in another incident and we believe he has some information that could be helpful during this investigation," said Dotson.

There were six other people in the house, including a 4-year-old, two teenage boys, and three adults.

Police say nobody is in custody for the crime.
