PARK HILLS, Mo. – There are new developments in the double murder of a St. Francois County couple found dead in their burning home Monday.

There are no arrests, but authorities are questioning persons of interest in the case.

The victims have been identified as 50-year-old Stanley Halter and his wife, 46-year-old Tammy Halter. The St. Francois County Sheriff's Office is not releasing much information, but they do say the autopsy makes it clear that the couple was murdered without revealing a cause of death or what a possible motive might be.

Pat Doba lives down the street. She says she's known the Halter family for more than 30 years, starting with Stanley's parents. She says she used to cut his hair when he was a boy and describes him as a nice, respectful man who watched out for her and cut her grass.

"I thought his kids were in high school and I called him to see if they wanted to make extra money and so he said no, they were all grown, but he came down and cut it," said Doba.

The sheriff says the couple has two grown children, and he does not believe this crime to be random.
