ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A 20-year-old St. Louis County man died Tuesday morning after being shot in a car in a north city neighborhood.

According to police, the shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. in the 4800 block of Hammett Place.

A group of friends were sitting a car outside a residence when a red sedan pulled up next to them and a person inside that car pointed an assault rifle out the window and opened fire.

Four people in the car managed to escape unscathed. The victim was shot several times in the chest and arm, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of family members.
