UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. – Four men are charged after an officer-involved shooting Tuesday in University City.
Kelvin Dorries, 26, is charged with two counts of second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of armed criminal action, one count of attempt to distribute/deliver a controlled substance, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
Vernon Bruce and 20-year-old Ahmad Mosley-Hunter are each charged with one count of attempt to distribute/deliver a controlled substance and one count of resisting arrest.
Travis Bradley is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance.
St. Louis County police say officers with the Division of Criminal Investigations were conducting a drug operation when Dorries, Bruce, Mosley-Hunter, and Bradley were seen leaving a home in the 6800 block of Corbitt. When detectives attempted to arrest the men, several of them started to run.
Police say Bruce was captured on the street, and as officers tried to arrest him, they say Dorries got into a vehicle behind the altercation and tried to leave the scene. Dorries is accused of putting the vehicle in reverse and driving toward Bruce and the detectives.
Fearing for his safety, one of the officers fired shots at Dorries.
Dorries was taken to an area hospital for treatment to injuries and was released to police. He is held on a $35,000 cash-only bond.
Mosley-Hunter and Bruce are each held on $15,000 bond.
Bradley's bond is set at $10,000.
