LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) – A Troy, Mo. man will serve 12 years in prison for a crash that killed a 9-year-old boy and injured his sibling and parents in November 2012.

Circuit Judge James David Beck found Randolph James guilty of involuntary manslaughter, felony assault, driving while revoked and careless and imprudent driving Wednesday and handed the sentence during the two-day bench trial.

James was intoxicated and collided his truck with a car on Highway 47 near Lindsey Road, west of Winfield, according to authorities. The crash killed 9-year-old David Simpson, who was a passenger in the car, and injured the boy's parents and 8-year-old sibling.

According to court records, James had a history of drunk driving offenses and a number of traffic violations.

Charges of armed criminal action and DWI as a prior offender were dropped during the trial, according to court records.
