EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) – A 24-year-old Cahokia man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for child pornography charges, according to U.S. Attorney for Southern District of Illinois Stephen Wigginton.

A jury found Charles Hicks guilty of production of child pornography, receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography last year.

An undercover Secret Service agent identified a computer that belonged to Hicks that shared pictures and videos child pornography, according to court records. After not being able to contact him, agents spoke to his mother and found two of his other computers that also contained child pornography.

Agents found more than 155 pictures and 130 videos of child pornography on one of the computers, according to documents.

Hicks said that he had downloaded photos and videos for two to three years so officers could track down those who made the pictures available.

The investigation also found two photos from 2008 of a 16-year-old victim, including one where Hicks had sex with the person, according to documents.

Hicks must also serve 10 years supervised release following his prison term, register as a sex offender and pay $500 to each of his victims.
