ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office charged two men Thursday for a hold-up at a north city McDonald's restaurant, which ended with one of the suspects being shot by a police officer.

According to Leah Freeman, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the robbery took place around 10:20 p.m. in the 4900 block of Natural Bridge Road. Officers were dispatched to the restaurant in response.

Police were given a description of one of the suspects and later found him in the 4900 block of San Francisco, Freeman said. The man had a gun in his hand. Officers attempted to chase the armed man on foot. The suspect turned toward officers and was shot after failing to drop his firearm.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Deonte Phillips, was rushed to a local hospital, where he remains listed in serious condition. The officers were not injured. They have since been placed on administrative leave.

Police apprehended the second suspect, identified as 22-year-old Johnny Phillips, at Kingshighway and Arlington following a brief car chase and foot pursuit.

Deonte Phillips was charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting/interfering with arrest. He remains jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
